About the Artisan Hand-Made Anticatura Patina

The Padova is finished using the traditional Anticatura technique, an artisan process associated with fine Italian and French shoemaking. Each pair requires approximately 8–10 hours of hand-dyeing to develop the depth, tonal variation and antique character of the finished leather.

The artisan gradually works multiple tones into the crust leather rather than covering the upper with a single uniform color. Denim blue, burgundy, purple, khaki, cognac and green-khaki influences interact across the surface, creating an intentionally complex finish in which no single tone completely dominates.

Darker shading around the toe, heel and edges emphasizes the architecture of the boot, while lighter and more expressive tonal areas reveal the depth of the hand-dyeing process. The clean cap-toe seam provides an additional visual boundary through which the changing patina can be appreciated.
