About the Artisan Hand-Made Patina

The leather components of the Arezzo are finished using Anticatura, the traditional Italian term for antique finishing. Starting with premium crust leather, skilled artisans gradually build layers of color by hand to create the depth, tonal variation and character associated with genuine hand-painted footwear.

The process requires approximately 8–10 hours of meticulous hand-dyeing and finishing per pair. Rather than applying a uniform factory color, the artisan develops the patina gradually, allowing lighter tobacco tones and deeper brown shades to emerge naturally across the leather.

Because every patina is created individually by hand, no two pairs will ever be perfectly identical. Subtle differences in color, shading and character are intentional and are part of what makes each pair of Ambrogio Arezzo shoes uniquely its own.
